Abstract:

Greg Madison will introduce the new concept of Existential Migration arising out of research into voluntary migrants, people who have chosen to leave their homelands to live in a foreign country. He will outline some of the features of this kind of migration and what can motivate it. It raises interesting new understandings of 'home', 'belonging', not-being-at-home in the world etc. Greg has found these new understandings useful in his work with clients. Through an experiential exercise we will explore the deeper meaning of home to us and then consider the implications of our discussion for coaching/working with international clients. The workshop will be an informal mix of discussion, exploration, and presentation. All are welcome.
